On 3rd March 2025, Cheriton Care Home in Dorchester held their inaugural Cheriton Awards. A prestigious event that recognises the hard work and dedication of exceptional team members within the care home. The event was filled with appreciation, laughter, and recognition for those who go above and beyond every day to make Cheriton a warm, welcoming, and supportive place for residents, families, and visitors alike.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a palpable sense of excitement. The awards were an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the outstanding contributions made by individuals across various roles. Each award was a testament to the passion, commitment, and teamwork that define the spirit of Cheriton.

Honouring Our Stars

The evening saw the announcement of eight well-deserved awards, with winners recognised for their exceptional service. The votes poured in, reflecting the deep respect and admiration among colleagues. Registered Manager Matt Dennis-Andrews recalls

Working in the care sector is both demanding and rewarding. We wanted to recognise the team’s hard work and achievements, so we created the Best of Cheriton Awards. The team nominated their colleagues, sharing inspiring reasons for their choices. The response was overwhelming, and the event itself was a celebration of their efforts.

With over 15 years of experience in care, I’ve never felt prouder of the team I work with. We look forward to the Best of Cheriton Awards 2026!

Non-Care Worker of the Year – Colin Phillips

Colin started his career with us on 22nd April 2024 as a Maintenance Operative. His dedication and hard work behind the scenes ensure that Cheriton remains a safe and comfortable place for all. His efforts do not go unnoticed, and this award is a reflection of the appreciation felt by his peers.

Care Worker of the Year – Mitva Patel

Mitva has been with Cheriton since 14th August 2023 as a Healthcare Assistant. Her compassionate approach to care has made a significant impact on residents and colleagues. Her unwavering commitment is truly inspiring.

Apprentice of the Year – Olha Khilevych

Olha, who started her journey with us on 29th June 2022 as a Chef apprentice, has shown enthusiasm for learning and growing expertise in the kitchen, earning her this well-deserved recognition. She is just about to complete her Level 2 Production Chef qualification via Weymouth College, further demonstrating her dedication to professional growth.

Professional Growth Award – Teena Joji

Teena has been with Cheriton since 6th December 2021 as a Senior Healthcare Assistant, demonstrating continuous development and dedication to personal and professional growth, making her a true role model.

Employee of the Year Award – Kelly-Marie Murton

Kelly-Marie, who has been with us since 22nd August 2017 as a Deputy Manager, has showcased remarkable leadership and commitment to excellence, leaving a lasting impact on the team and the home as a whole.

Cheriton’s Hero Award 2025 – Bindu Baby

Bindu, a dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistant, has been part of the Cheriton family since 6th December 2021. This special award recognised her outstanding contributions, kindness, and dedication, making her a true hero in the eyes of the Cheriton community.

Shift Lead of the Year – Georgie Poore

Georgie has been part of the Cheriton family since 23rd April 2019 as a Care Team Leader. Her leadership and dedication have made her an invaluable part of the team. Though she was unable to attend the event, she received her award later, much to the delight of her colleagues.

Rising Star Award – Paige Williams

Paige joined Cheriton on 15th January 2024 as a Healthcare Assistant and has quickly become a valued member of the team. She, too, was unable to attend but was recognised for her hard work.

A Night of Appreciation

The atmosphere throughout the event was electric, with cheers, applause, and heartfelt moments as each winner was announced. The sense of camaraderie and appreciation was evident, reinforcing the fact that Cheriton is more than just a workplace – it is a family.
