Earlier this month, Angela, who lives in our Lansdowne Hill Care Home, got a wonderful surprise! Her daughter Dee and ex-husband Martin travelled all the way from Burlington, near Toronto, Canada, to see her. It had been six years since they last met.

A Reunion to Remember
With so many years of catching up to do, it should come as no surprise that the family enjoyed an action packed visit. Starting with a shopping trip to the Outlet Village, Angela picked out a new pair of shoes, while her daughters got her an anorak and hat. Later, they enjoyed a a relaxed evening with Domino’s Pizza; a casual but perfect meal for the special occasion.
For Angela however, the highlight of the visit was a trip to Weston-Super-Mare. Angela’s other daughter Tess, son-in-law Sean, and granddaughter Aayah joined them as they had fish and chips by the sea, played the slot machines, treated themselves to ice cream, and visited a sweet shop.
Looking back on her day, Angela recalls:
I was really choked, but every time I talk about it, I can’t help but smile. It was such an amazing day.

A Day Filled with Emotion
While every visit from a loved one comes as a joyous surprise for our residents here at Lansdowne Hill Care Home, for Angela, this was something truly to treasure. She was completely overwhelmed by the surprise, and even the team felt the weight of the moment. Tears were shed, and smiles were shared.
A big thank you to our deputy manager, Carla Andrews, who helped coordinate the reunion. These moments remind us why family matters and how special reunions can be.

The Warmth of Lansdowne Hill
